The purpose of the 3-minute breathing space is to help you step out of automatic pilot, move into the present moment and slow down so you can respond more skillfully to stressful situations. The goal of this exercise isn’t to take away negative feelings but rather to create more space in which to respond with greater perspective.
Qi Gong (Chi Gong) is a practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness. It has roots in Chinese medicine, martial arts, and philosophy. It is traditionally viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance qi (chi) or “life energy”. There is a visualization and breath awareness connected with each movement. Watch the video to learn the movements but be sure to read the written instructions also so you can combine movement with your breath and with visual imagery.
