No previous mindfulness or meditation experience required.

 What to expect

9:30 to 10:00: there will be an introduction to mindfulness and we will answer your questions about mindfulness practice.

10:00 to 12:30: the retreat will be a silent mindfulness practice, alternating between sitting and walking periods with no further instruction.

12:30 to 1:00 (optional): Lunch and discussion- bring your lunch and stay for discussion afterward.

Cost: There is no charge for this retreat. However, in the spirit of generosity, donations are gratefully accepted to cover our rent, insurance and other operational costs.

Bring your own favorite cushions for sitting if you like. A chair will be provided if you prefer.

The retreat is appropriate for participants with limited experience as well as more experienced practitioners.

About the Teachers

Jane Mayers, R.N., M.S.N.

Jane has been in private practice for over 25 years providing a mind-body focused stress management program for her clients including mindfulness based individual counseling, biofeedback and therapeutic body work. Her clinical practice focuses on helping people to bring mindfulness to daily life, so they can respond more skillfully to difficulties with relationships, work, chronic illness and other life stress. She has studied Vipassana (Insight) meditation for over 30 years at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA and has taught mindfulness classes for health professionals and lay people for one year.

Jean Meier, M.Ed.

Jean has over 30 years of experience as a counselor, teacher, trainer, and writer. She has studied Vipassana meditation since 2001 with teachers at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre MA. and has taken professional training through the Center for Mindfulness, UMass. Medical School (founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D). She completed her MBSR Teacher Practicum training through the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. and has 6 years of MBSR teaching experience.
